Mathale is the largest town of Matale District of the Central Province, of Sri Lanka. It is 142 kilometres (88 mi) from Colombo and near Kandy. It is a mainly agricultural area, where tea, rubber, vegetable and spice cultivation dominate. Matale is a city with a significant rainfall. Even in the driest month there is a lot of rain. This climate is considered to be Af according to the Köppen-Geiger climate classification. In Matale, the average annual temperature is 25.3 °C. The average annual rainfall is 1860 mm. hiking and camping is the most famous activity in mathale area.
